INHABIT VOLUNTEERS AT FOODBANK VICTORIA

On September 1st 2022, the first day of Spring in Australia, 10 members of Inhabit’s Melbourne team volunteered at Foodbank Victoria, a part of Australia’s largest food relief organisation.

Foodbank provides more than 70% of the food rescued for food relief organisations nation-wide, working with farmers, manufacturers, supermarkets and other retailers to source supplies. They work with 2,950 frontline charities and 2,890 school breakfast programs to get over 86.7 million meals out to those who could use a hand every year.

The team, which included Inhabit CEO Tony Alvaro (pictured below left), worked in the organisation’s industrial-size warehouse picking and scanning orders for dispatch. They were briefed for the day by former Nova radio star Matt Tilley, now the Chief Communications Officer for the Victorian arm of the charity.

While the work was for a serious cause there was also time for a lot of laughter as the team learned how to drive the tricky pallet jacks and get the hang of the barcode scanners. The Inhabit team packed 17,810 meals for people in need. Inhabit also donated AU$1,000 to Foodbank Victoria.
